- Jul 2026 Featured in UM-Dearborn News: WiseBot, an autonomous Wi-Fi and 5G scanning robot for smart-manufacturing environments. Prof. Farooq and team contributed the wireless scanning subsystem (the antennas mounted on the robot) and the on-board software that lets WiseBot sniff Wi-Fi, LTE, and 5G signals and generate facility-wide coverage heat maps. Developed with Samir Rawashdeh, Jaerock Kwon, Alireza Mohammadi, and a team of students including CyReN intern Sourabh Harapanahalli, under a $900,000 MxD grant. Visit site →

- Jun 2026 Delivered an invited talk at the UNESCO Chair on Education "Connect the Unconnected" Summer 2026 Seminar Series, hosted by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST): "Orchestrating NextG Networks at the Confluence of Communications, Computing, and Control." The talk explored AI-driven resource orchestration across mobile, edge, and cloud systems — spanning UAV placement, computation offloading, user association, and resource allocation in 5G edge-cloud networks — and outlined a research vision for autonomous NextG networks that continuously learn from their operating environments.
